Here's a scarf I crocheted using some left over Lion Brand Wool Ease worsted in colors Forest Green Heather and Fisherman. With a beginning chain of 250, I alternated 3 rows of double crochet of each color. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough yarn left to make a hat to go with this one.
Global Warming with Crochet
A chronicle of the scarves and hats I have crocheted along with links to the patterns or other resources I used. These scarves and hats will go to the wonderful charities I support. This blog is dedicated to my grandmother, Bess Allison (Mama Bess), who taught me to crochet, and to my father, Bill Bishop, both of whom have passed on. I also dedicate this site to my mother, Jeanette Bishop, who has always been such an inspiration to me in so many ways. I love you all so much.

Scarf #114 December 7, 2011
I usually don't like working with black (or other very dark) yarn because my eyesight isn't what it used to be! But I really didn't have much trouble with this Deborah Norville Everyday soft worsted "black". The pattern for this scarf (called the "Raf Scarf", designed by Anna Tirat-Gefen) can be found on Ravelry at this link. I started with a beginning chain of 26.

Scarf #113 December 6, 2011
This is a very simple pattern. I started with a beginning chain of 26 and alternated 2 rows of sc and 2 rows of dc, ending with 2 rows of sc. The yarn I used was Caron worsted (pounder), color "Country Rose".

Scarf #112 December 5, 2011
This is a great pattern I found on Ravelry designed by Megan Marshall, which is called "Acacia Scarf" (link HERE). I changed the beginning chain to 260 instead of 236 to make the scarf a bit longer. One important note: be sure that your beginning chain is LOOSE - mine was a bit too tight and the scarf pulled a bit to the beginning chain side.
The yarn I used for this one is Lion Brand Wool Ease worsted, color "Wood".

Scarf #111 December 4, 2011
The pattern for this scarf, called the "Elemental Scarf" can be found on the Lion Brand web site at this link. I adapted the pattern a little by starting with a beginning chain of 26 and by using a smaller hook (size H) which reduced the size of the holes. The yarn I used is Red Heart Super Saver worsted, color "Grey Heather", which is a little darker than the Wool Ease color of the same name.

Scarf #110 December 3, 2011
This scarf and hat was crocheted using Lion Brand Wool Ease worsted, color "Cranberry". The pattern I used is called "Anything But Drab Crocheted Scarf" which can be found at this link. I adapted the pattern by using a beginning chain of 250, not starting Row 1 into the "bump" of the chain, and adding 2 more rows in the Row 5-9 section to make the scarf a bit wider.

Scarf #109 December 2, 2011
Here is a scarf and hat I crocheted using Lion Brand Wool Ease worsted, color "Grey Heather". The pattern is called "Simple Textured Crochet Scarf", designed by Andrea Lyn Van Benschoten, which I found at this link. I really like this pattern! I started with a beginning chain of 26 to make the scarf a bit wider.
