Scarf #51 May 31, 2011

I crocheted this scarf using the Cluster Shell and Double Crochet pattern demonstrated on Teresa Richardson's video found here (written instructions can be linked to here).  The yarn I used was Lion Brand Wool Ease, color "Chestnut Heather" (color 179).  This scarf with a beginning chain of 30 (multiple of 10) came out to be 6 1/4" wide.

Scarf #50 May 29, 2011

This is my favorite scarf so far, not because of the pattern, but because I think this yarn is so beautiful.  The yarn is Deborah Norville Everyday Soft Worsted color "Vineyard".  I started with a beginning chain of 225 and worked the scarf with hdc in back loops only.  Hopefully the picture does the color some justice.

Scarf #49 May 28, 2011

This scarf is crocheted using the Crochet Cluster Shell stitch demonstrated in Teresa Richardson's video on YouTube which can be found here.  I started with a beginning chain of 28.  The yarn is Lion Brand Wool Ease, color "Mushroom".

Scarf #48 May 27, 2011

This scarf was crocheted using Lion Brand Wool Ease color "Blush Heather".  At each end is one row of double crochet, and the scarf is done alternating 3 rows of double crochet and 8 rows of the cross stitch (skip next dc, dc in next dc, dc in skipped dc).

Scarf #47 May 26, 2011

This is the first item I've ever made using Deborah Norville's Everyday Soft Worsted yarn.  I love it!!!
My new favorite.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to use it all the time but it really is wonderful to work with.  The color is "Antique Lavender".  For this scarf, I alternated 5 rows of sc and 3 rows of dc, beginning and ending with the 5 rows of sc.

Scarf #46 May 25, 2011

Here is another scarf done with hdc in back loops only worked length-wise, started with a beginning chain of 225.  The yarn I used is Vanna's Choice, color "Dark Grey Heather".  The picture is not the best, but I really liked the way this one came out.  It is really thick and soft.

Scarf #45 May 24, 2011

I used Vanna's Choice yarn, Color "Wild Berry" (Color # 141) to crochet this scarf using Kate's V-Stitch Scarf pattern found on the Crochet Cabana blog (found here).  This is a very nice pattern, very easy to follow, and works up quickly.

Scarf #44 May 23, 2011

My heart goes out to the families of those who lost homes and loved ones in Joplin, Missouri.  I'm very worried as more severe thunderstorms are headed that way today and I have family in Springfield and Rolla, Missouri.

I used Vanna's Choice color "Sapphire" to crochet today's scarf (beautiful color).  The pattern goes something like this:

Beginning chain 225.

Row 1: Hdc in each chain across; ch 3, turn
Row 2: Skip 1st hdc, hdc in next hdc, *ch 1, sk next hdc, hdc in next hdc; rep from * across; ch 2, turn
Row 3: Hdc in each hdc and ch-1 sp across; ch 3, turn
Rows 4+: Repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until desired width.

Scarf #42 May 21, 2011

I crocheted this scarf using the Trinity Stitch that I learned how to do from another of Teresa Richardson's excellent videos on YouTube (found here).  The multiple is 2 + 1, so I started with a beginning chain of 23 for the scarf.  The yarn is Vanna's Choice, color "Honey".  This is a great looking stitch for a scarf.

Scarf #41 May 20, 2011

I worked up this scarf using the Puff Stitch as demonstrated on Teresa Richardson's video on YouTube which you can link to here.  I started and ended with a row of double crochet and alternated dc rows with puff stitch rows.  For some reason it came out slightly slanted, but acceptable for sure.  For this scarf and hat I used Vanna's Choice color Charcoal Grey (Color 151).

Scarf #40 May 19, 2011

What a major find!!!  I was looking on YouTube and found Teresa Richardson's crochet videos and I am literally hooked!  I crocheted this scarf using the seed stitch as demonstrated on Teresa's video found here.  All of her videos are fantastic and I will definitely be making more scarves using her very helpful videos.  Thank you, Teresa!

This particular scarf was made using Red Heart yarn, color "Spring Green".

Scarf #39 May 18, 2011

This pattern is called the "Basket Stitch Scarf" designed by Mary Griffin which can be found HERE.  I love the way this one came out.  I used Lion Brand Wool Ease "Denim Twist" (Color 194) and followed the pattern exactly with a beginning chain of 20.

Scarf #38 May 17, 2011

I crocheted this scarf and hat using Lion Brand Wool Ease color "Forest Green Heather" (Color 180).  I started with a beginning chain of 200, and the scarf is worked length-wise with half-double crochets in back loops only.  I seem to be using this pattern a lot because it looks really nice and works up quickly.

Scarf #37 May 16, 2011

This scarf was made using Paton's Decor Color "Tapestry" using Kate's V-Stitch Scarf pattern on the Crochet Cabana blog (found here).  This is a nice yarn, but not one of my favorites.

Scarf #36 May 15, 2011

For this scarf and hat I used Lion Brand Wool Ease color "Rose Heather" (color 140).  The pattern came from the book "101 Crochet Stitches" by Jean Leinhauser (ISBN:0-88195-693-7), pattern #24 on page 28.

Scarf #35 May 14, 2011

I thought this one turned out well and small enough for a child.  I adapted the Bergamot Ripple Scarf pattern on the Lion Brand web site (found here) by using single crochet instead of double crochet and working in back loops only to create ridges.  The color is Red Heart Spring Green.

Scarf #34 May 13, 2011

I used Vanna's Choice "Purple Print" (Color 202) for this scarf, which is simply hdc in back loops only worked width-wise.  I started with a beginning chain of 23.  Vanna's Choice yarn has become one of my very favorites and can find it locally at JoAnn's.

Scarf #33 May 12, 2011

Since I had more of the Lion Brand Jiffy yarn, I thought I would give it another try.  I still don't like it.  LOL  I used Jiffy "Purple Spray" and the pattern is one I found on the back of a Red Heart yarn sleeve, which consists of single crochets and chain-1s.  Whew!  The Jiffy is gone now.

Scarf #32 May 11, 2011

Here is another scarf I did in the 2010 Special Olympics colors, Red Heart Blue and Red Heart Turqua.  The scarf is worked length-wise with a beginning chain of 200 and is simply single crochet worked in back loops only.  I changed colors after working about 3 inches of the scarf.

Scarf #31 May 10, 2011

This scarf is crocheted with Lion Brand Wool Ease color "Dark Rose Heather".  I started with a beginning chain of 200, crocheted 3 rows of sc in back loops, 8 rows of dc in back loops, and then another 3 rows of sc in back loops.

I'm really enjoying the yarns I haven't used in a while.  I love the wool ease for its softness and consistency.  It's just more expensive than the RH so I won't be able to use it ALL of the time, but I would if I could.

Scarf #30 May 9, 2011

Good morning from rainy Battle Ground, WA!  I don't think the rain will ever end.  It is only tolerable because it is leading up to the beautiful, temperate, green summers we have here!

I used RH Blue and RH Turqua to crochet this scarf using the Bergamot Ripple Scarf pattern on the Lion Brand web site (found here) with the adaptation posted by Sandie on her Crochet Cabana blog (found here).  These are the 2011 Special Olympics colors.  The 2012 Special Olympics colors are RH Cherry Red and RH Soft Navy, so you will see a few of these in upcoming posts.

Scarf #28 May 7, 2011

I crocheted this scarf using Red Heart Stripes "Latte Stripe" and the pattern is simply alternating sc and dc rows, beginning and ending with sc rows.  I started with a beginning chain of 22.

Scarf #27 May 5, 2011

This pattern is called the "Bamboo Scarf" (because the scarf in the image was worked with Bamboo yarn, I suppose).  The pattern can be found here.  I adapted the pattern and worked it width-wise rather than length-wise and started with a beginning chain of 22.  I used Red Heart Amethyst yarn to crochet this one.

Scarf #26 May 2, 2011

This yarn is fantastic and a beautiful color of grey.  I started this scarf with a beginning chain of 24, then did one row of dc across with a ch-3, turn at the end.  Then I used the cross stitch pattern (sk next dc, dc in skipped dc) across and repeating until the last row which is a dc row.  I really like how this one came out.
