Repeat rows 1-2 until desired length.
A chronicle of the scarves and hats I have crocheted along with links to the patterns or other resources I used. These scarves and hats will go to the wonderful charities I support. This blog is dedicated to my grandmother, Bess Allison (Mama Bess), who taught me to crochet, and to my father, Bill Bishop, both of whom have passed on. I also dedicate this site to my mother, Jeanette Bishop, who has always been such an inspiration to me in so many ways. I love you all so much.

Scarf #87 July 28, 2011
Today's scarf I crocheted using a little pattern of my own that I made up as I went along. I started with a beginning chain of 24, then:
Rows 1-2 double crochet
Rows 3-4 half-double crochet
Rows 5-6 single crochet
Rows 7-8 half-double crochet
Rows 9-10 double crochet
I just repeated rows 1-10 until the scarf reached around 65", ending with 2 double crochet rows.
The yarn I used for this one is Deborah Norville Everyday Soft Worsted, color "Chocolate".

Scarf #86 July 27, 2011
Today's scarf I crocheted using TLC Essentials (by Red Heart), color "Falling Leaves". It has been years since I used this yarn and I really like it. The pattern I used is another great one by Teresa Richardson and is demonstrated on her YouTube video found here. It is called "Crochet Shell Variation 4". I did the pattern without the chains and double crochet as demonstrated at the end of the video. I plan to try this variation as well in the very near future. Thanks again, Teresa, for your wonderful patterns and your devotion to our craft!

I finally got some hats and scarf/hat sets boxed up and mailed to Sandy of Bridge and Beyond, a wonderful organization providing for the homeless in central Ohio. You can visit the blog at this link and see the fantastic work they are doing. I mailed at least 25 hats and several scarf/hat sets, but unfortunately, forgot to take a picture of the hats and didn't count how many sets I was able to fit in the box. Oh, well!

Scarf #76 July 15, 2011
Well, today I will be going to see the final Harry Potter movie. I'm very excited to see it, but it will be very bittersweet! I love these books and movies and will miss the anticipation of the next one being released. But the fandom will never die! I have all of the books and dvds and will continue to read and watch them again and again.
I used a yarn for today's scarf that is new to me. I found it at JoAnn's Fabrics and it is called Loops & Threads Impeccable Worsted, and the color I used is called "Topaz". It is a really nice yarn. I used one of my simple go-to patterns, double crochet in back loops only, worked width-wise with a beginning chain of 25.

Scarf #66 July 1, 2011
What a beautiful day here in Battle Ground, WA! It's so great to see the sunshine, even though it means yard work. :)
I crocheted this scarf using Vanna's Choice, color "Antique Rose". With a beginning chain of 25, I alternated one double crochet row and one row of the dc cross-stitch (skip next st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st) with the ending row in dc.
